NA deputy: What happened yesterday  at Mother See is a  national  disgrace

ArmInfo. What happened yesterday at the Mother See of Etchmiadzin is a national  disgrace, accompanied by blatant immorality. Seyran Ohanyan, leader  of the opposition parliamentary faction "Armenia" and former RA  Defense Minister, wrote on his Facebook page.

According to him, this is a provocation orchestrated by both external  and internal forces that have seized power in Armenia. The  authorities, as the MP noted, have committed grave crimes against the  state and the people and are mired in sin. They have perpetrated yet  another conspiracy against the Armenian Apostolic Church, attempting  to overthrow one of the most important pillars of Armenian statehood  and national identity.

 "However, the most disgusting thing we also witnessed yesterday was  the betrayal of several high-ranking clergy and bishops who acted  against their own vows and their faithful brothers. In response, His  Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All  Armenians, delivered a dignified speech that was a sincere call for  national unity and tolerance, rather than words of hatred and  hostility directed at him. The clergy, united with the devoted  children of the people, welcomed this call yesterday, for which we  are deeply grateful. Dear compatriots, it is clear that new events  lie ahead, with new attacks on the Armenian Apostolic Church, as the  ruling group will try at any cost to fulfill this goal, which is also  part of a geopolitical conspiracy. Therefore, I call on everyone to  be united, as they were yesterday, not to succumb to provocations, to  unite, to stand firm, and to defend our faith and Church. History has  shown that we have always succeeded when we are united," the MP  noted.
