ArmInfo. The ruling regime in Armenia plans to attack the Holy See of Etchmiadzin tomorrow, according to political scientist Stepan Danielyan.
"On behalf of the separatist bishops who met with the head of the regime without providing their names or signatures, a statement was published, according to which tomorrow, December 18, at 5:00 pm they will go to the Mother See to demand the resignation of the Catholicos. Roughly the same scenario as in 2018-2019, when they blocked the courts and put pressure on judges. They did all this in the name of the people, so that the courts and the Constitutional Court "return to the people." Only this time, instead of "proud citizens," the appeal is addressed to "believers." Naturally, the believers do not know that the decision is being made in their name in a room known for numerous live broadcasts.
Now, according to information published in the press, they are trying to "cleanse" the church through numerous immoral actions, both natural and unnatural, as well as through a group of bishops suspected of corruption. The bishops are already openly involved in politics. They call for "showing "We must unite our will, join them, and raise our voices of protest against this destructive, anti-canonical process, which deliberately destroys the Church's reputation and authority, completely rejecting any efforts and attempts by the Armenian Church to serve the interests of foreigners." "We'll see how many 'believers,' not counting loyal police officers and NSS officers, will participate in this event," the political scientist wrote.
It should be noted that earlier today, a group of bishops of the Armenian Apostolic Church, who met with RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, issued a statement noting that dangerous developments have recently occurred around the Church, concerning which concern has been repeatedly expressed both during personal conversations with the Catholicos of All Armenians and in the public sphere. These developments have already crossed the line, beyond which irreparable damage could be caused to the Church, the state, and the faithful. "The meetings on these issues were essentially held at the behest of the Catholicos of All Armenians and did not contribute to the resolution of the problems, which once again proves the arbitrary and incomplete rule of Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II during these years. It is time for us, the clergy and faithful, to be honest with each other and admit that over the past years our voice has not only not been heard in the Church, but also has not had a significant, decisive influence on the implementation of the Church's mission. Now the time has come for us, the Catholicosate and our faithful throughout the world, to express a clear and decisive position on the problems facing our Church, not to be constrained by various difficulties and pressures, and for the love of God to stop the daily decline of the Mother See. The current deplorable state of the Church also poses a threat to our national and state security interests. Each of us is responsible before history for the decisions and actions we have taken. We call on our spiritual brothers and our faithful in Armenia and the Diaspora to show a united will, to join "We are called upon to raise our just voice of protest against this destructive, anti-canonical process, which is deliberately destroying the Church's reputation and authority, completely rejecting any attempts and efforts to serve the Armenian Church in the interests of foreigners. Dear spiritual brothers, faithful people of Armenia, on December 18 of this year at 5:00 PM, come and join us at the spiritual center of all Armenians, Holy Etchmiadzin, to justly demand the resignation of Karekin II, which has become an urgent necessity. May Almighty God bless our national mission and fulfill the long-held dream and desire of spiritual servants and believers," the statement reads.
