ArmInfo. Luciana Minasyan, lawyer for Lebanese- Armenian Vicken Euljekjian, believes that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's announcement of his willingness to pardon 20,000 people in connection with the declaration of 2025 as the Year of Constitution and Sovereignty, meets her expectations.
As the lawyer explained on her Facebook page, the expectation that Euljekjian might be pardoned stems from the fact that earlier, on August 1, Vicken's wife, Linda Euljekjian, sent a letter to the wife of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, requesting a pardon and the release of her husband. In response to Aliyev's statement, Minasyan decided to reiterate the contents of the letter.
In the letter, Euljekjian's wife, according to the lawyer, told that while her husband was behind bars, his mother passed away. Her husband was denied the right to bury and honor his mother's memory. Linda Euljekjian then said that her own mother is currently facing the final stages of a brutal illness - cancer. She added that her husband longs not for freedom alone, but also for the opportunity to fulfill his duty. After all, as Euljekjian's wife emphasized, if her mother died, their family would be left completely alone.
Therefore, she called for her husband to be pardoned. "A pardon for my husband would be an act of quiet greatness- one remembered not as concession, but as compassion," Euljekjian's wife noted.
