ArmInfo. Hayk Sargsyan, a NA member from the ruling Civil Contract party, intends to challenge the party's board's decision to exclude him from its election list for the 2026 parliamentary elections.
In an interview with reporters, the MP emphasized that the party's charter allows for appealing the board's decision. Sargsyan noted that this is the first time the ruling party has gone to the polls with advance preparation. For the 2021 parliamentary elections, the list was hastily compiled by the Civil Contract board. Now, thorough preparations are underway for the upcoming election process, during which candidates for parliament from the ruling party have until December 31 to be nominated. Since Hayk Sargsyan's candidacy did not receive the required number of votes from the Civil Contract board members, the parliamentarian intends to challenge the decision in court. He reported that over 300 people have submitted applications for inclusion on the list.
It was previously reported that NA deputies Hayk Sargsyan and Karen Sarukhanyan were not included on the Civil Contract electoral list. Both politicians failed the party leadership's internal selection process. Only three out of the 20 board members supported Sargsyan's candidacy.
