ArmInfo. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Armenia has initiated legislative amendments to allow the police to use technical means to detect drug intoxication. The document has been published on the unified portal of legal acts.
According to the document, in accordance with current legislation, the police can use technical means to test a person's (driver's) sobriety by measuring the alcohol content in exhaled air (verification of intoxication). In cases of suspicion (sufficient grounds) of driving under the influence, verification is done solely through blood or urine tests conducted by medical organizations. Law enforcement officials are now proposing to provide for the possibility of using technical means to verify drug intoxication and impose administrative penalties on this evidence.
