ArmInfo. A day after parliamentary hearings on the safe return of Artsakh residents to their homeland, the Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting searches at the Artsakh representative office in Yerevan. This was announced on his Facebook page by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly of Armenia from the opposition "I Have the Honor" faction.
"While Azerbaijan is pressuring the Armenian authorities and promoting the so-called 'Western Azerbaijan' program, the Armenian leadership is taking another step in favor of the Azerbaijani side," the MP noted. Lawyer Roman Yeritsyan also reported on his Facebook page that searches were being conducted at the Artsakh representative office in Armenia.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, at a meeting with Armenian journalists in Hamburg last night, responded to Azerbaijan's accusations regarding parts of the Armenia-EU strategic cooperation agenda document, which also mentions refugees from Artsakh. He stated that, given the sensitive nature of the issue for Azerbaijan, he had a proposal: to simultaneously address the issue of so-called "Western Azerbaijan" and the return of Artsakh residents to their homeland. In this regard, Pashinyan even recalled that he had already stated "the impossibility of returning Nagorno-Karabakh to the people of Artsakh."
As a reminder, on December 10, the day of the referendum on the independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the Constitution, parliamentary hearings were held at the Artsakh representative office. The hearings discussed the right of the people of Artsakh to return to their homeland and the determination of the Republic's political status based on the principle of self-determination.
