


ArmInfo. Vice-Rector of Yerevan Pedagogical University Marianna Harutyunyan has testified against Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan in a case of embezzlement and bribery, Aysor.am reports.
According to investigative materials, Vice-Rector Marianna Harutyunyan used these funds to purchase an apartment in a new building on Mamikonyants Street, as well as kitchen furniture and appliances worth 17 million drams.
According to Aysor.am, Marianna Harutyunyan was appointed to the position of Vice-Rector through the mediation of a high-ranking official of the ruling Civil Contract Party.
On November 17, the Anti-Corruption Committee (AC) of the Republic of Armenia reported that the rector and vice-rector of Khachatur Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University had been detained as part of a criminal investigation conducted by the AC. It was noted that the detainees are accused of creating and leading a criminal organization consisting of various university employees, committing embezzlement and fraud on an especially large scale, and accepting bribes. The court later placed Gevorkyan under house arrest and bail.
