Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisogomonyan and UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Guy Ryder, at a meeting in New York on December 9, commended the high level of cooperation established between Armenia and the UN, expressing their mutual readiness to expand and strengthen the scope of cooperation.
According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the interlocutors exchanged views on the reform agenda envisaged within the framework of the UN-80 initiative. They emphasized the importance of ensuring the continued effective work of UN structures in the context of development cooperation, human rights protection, and the preventive agenda.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia spoke about recent developments in the South Caucasus, emphasizing the importance of implementing the agreements reached in Washington on August 8 between Yerevan and Baku, including the implementation of initiatives aimed at unlocking infrastructure based on the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction of states, as a guarantee of maintaining and strengthening peace in the region.
Abisoghomonyan also touched on the work being carried out in the lead-up to the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will be held in Yerevan in 2026, and presented Armenia's vision for an inclusive, cooperative, and comprehensive conference with the participation of all stakeholders.
