Germany willing to develop relations with Armenia - President  Frank-Walter Steinmeier

ArmInfo. Germany is willing to develop relations with Armenia, as stated by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. He expressed confidence that the Prime Minister's visit will give new impetus to bilateral cooperation  across various areas.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed current bilateral  issues and exchanged views on the further expansion of cooperation  between Armenia and the European Union. They emphasized the  significance of holding the European Political Community (EPC) summit  in Armenia and noted that it is an important platform for political  dialogue with Europe.  According to the government press service, the  meeting addressed issues of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as  well as other topics of regional importance. The Prime Minister  expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that Germany is a  key partner for Armenia, both bilaterally and within the EU.   According to the Prime Minister, the two countries share a common  commitment to human rights, democracy, and the rule of law and added  that Armenia is interested in elevating its partnership with Germany  to a new level.

It should be noted that, according to the RA Statistics Committee,  Germany ranks sixth in terms of positive net investment in the real  sector of the Armenian economy in the first quarter of 2025, with a  volume of $3.7 million. Moreover, investment from Germany increased  3.3-fold year-on-year (shifting from negative to positive).

Investments from Germany were almost entirely directed toward the  production of machinery and equipment, while the rest went to energy  projects and wholesale trade. Additionally, German investment in the  production of basic metals and the IT sector decreased, while  investment in the production of electrical equipment was completely  zero. In January-October 2025, trade turnover between Armenia and  Germany decreased by 4.1%, amounting to $386.4 million. However,  exports increased by 80.6% to $93 million, against the backdrop of a  16.5% decline in imports to $293.4 million.
