ArmInfo. "The case against Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan, initiated on October 20, 2025, for political motives, has been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia," Ghukasyan's lawyer, Zaruhi Postanjyan, reported.
According to her, the courts in Armenia have so far applied restrictions in the aforementioned proceedings against Vardan Ghukasyan that violate the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
" Not only Vardan Ghukasyan, but also members of his family were illegally subjected to wiretapping and hidden video recording (a complex of operational-investigative measures, including digital surveillance, including telephone conversation monitoring, internal surveillance, and external surveillance using technical means). They were then illegally arrested in humiliating and degrading conditions and detained for two months.
Currently, Vardan Ghukasyan is being forcibly detained in unsanitary and inhumane conditions, denied necessary medical care, and facing obstacles to his right to freedom of conscience, religion, and belief. These illegalities were made possible by the judicial decisions of Judges Zhora Chichoyan and Vardges Sargsyan," she wrote on social media.
According to her, it is now the turn of 30-year-old Levon Petrosyan, "whose judicial experience has not yet reached two months." "Judge Levon Petrosyan has assumed responsibility of presiding over the fabricated criminal case against Vardan Ghukasyan and has scheduled the first preliminary hearing for December 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia (address: 3/9 Tbilisi Highway, Yerevan, Republic of Armenia)," the lawyer noted.
