Armenian Justice Minister: Health condition of Shirak Diocese head  does not raise serious concerns

ArmInfo. Currently, no serious health issues have been registered  for Mikael Ajapahyan,  head of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC), as  stated by Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan in a conversation with  reporters in the Armenian parliament, in response  to a statement by  opposition Armenia faction MP Garnik Danielyan claiming the  archbishop needs urgent surgery. She also reassured that there is no  bureaucratic red tape in this situation, and the main issue is the  lack of a corresponding application, that Ajapahyan's lawyer must  submit. Once this application is submitted,  the necessary measures  will be taken. "As of now, no such application has been submitted.   Therefore, we recommend that the archbishop's defense seek assistance  from our lawyers if they do not know how to properly prepare such a  document," the Minister of Justice stated. In this regard, she noted  that, under current legislation and established procedures,  especially given that the discussions are conducted with the  participation of lawyers, adherence to procedure is of utmost  importance. "Only after the corresponding application is submitted to  the competent agency can further action be taken," the Minister  added.

Galyan also clarified that the application should be sent to the  Ministry of Health, not the Ministry of Justice. "Our colleagues from  the Ministry of Health have confirmed that the necessary tools will  be used when submitting the application, and the applicant will  receive appropriate medical care," the Minister of Justice noted.  Galyan added that their lawyer would visit the head of the Shirak  Diocese today, informing Ajapahyan of his rights and asking him to  file the petition.

It should be noted that today, Garnik Danielyan, member of parliament  from the opposition "Armenia" faction, informed reporters that Mikael  Ajapahyan requires urgent surgery. He also reported that the  archbishop's lawyer had submitted the relevant petitions regarding  the situation, but the process was being hindered by bureaucratic  delays.
