ArmInfo. If one or two years ago, Armenia and Azerbaijan were discussing conflicting narratives, now these narratives are largely similar, as stated by Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan, who spoke jointly with Aide to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev at a panel discussion at the international forum in Doha.
"One or two years ago, we used to talk about conflicting narratives whenever we had the chance to meet. Now, many of them are in agreement, while some are not, but I am confident that we will strengthen cooperation to enhance future prospects," Grigoryan stated.
The Security Council Secretary believes that both sides need political will, and the international community can assist in peacebuilding. Armen Grigoryan is convinced that the peace agreement signed between Yerevan and Baku on August 8 in Washington has changed the atmosphere in the Caucasus. "We are now focusing on strengthening peace and institutionalizing it, rather than the conflict itself," he noted.
According to Grigoryan, the future ratification of the peace agreement and the lifting of the communications blockade in the region are part of the process of institutionalizing the agreements reached between Baku and Yerevan in Washington on August 8, because "the peoples of the region deserve it."
