Pan-Armenian Council for Preservation of  Armenian Church condemns  arrest of Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan as "political revenge and   gross gamble"

ArmInfo.The Pan-Armenian Council for the Preservation of the Armenian Church has issued a statement condemning the events surrounding Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan as "political revenge and a gross gamble."

"The arrest of Archbishop Arshak is a shameful and deliberate act of  state pressure aimed at intimidating and humiliating the Church."  What is being done today is not aimed at establishing justice, but at  punishing a principle and, at the same time, at establishing control  over the Catholicosate, turning the highest church authority into an  instrument for serving external and internal interests," the  statement reads.
