ArmInfo. Any attempts to resolve internal church issues through political interference, regardless of the justification, are unacceptable and dangerous. This is stated in a statement by a group of bishops supporting Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II.
"We, the undersigned archbishops and bishops of the Armenian Apostolic Church, express our filial and unconditional devotion to the Mother See of Etchmiadzin and its popularly elected Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II. We consider any attempt to resolve internal church issues through political interference, regardless of the justification, unacceptable and dangerous. All issues related to the governance and internal life of the Church can be resolved with fraternal love, with the high consciousness befitting apostolic bishops, through competent ecclesiastical and congregational bodies, in accordance with the current canonical procedures of our Holy Church. We consider the arbitrary refusal to mention the name of the Patriarch during the Liturgy unacceptable and reprehensible, as a gross violation of ritual canons, which, from an ecclesiological point of view, contains elements of division. We are confident that the unity and peace of our Holy Church are above personal, group or other interests and will be strengthened through communication, love, truth and justice. We We are convinced that through the joint efforts of our bishops we will find effective solutions for the benefit of our Holy Church," the statement reads.
