ArmInfo. The implementation of the right to education for children forcibly displaced from Artsakh has been under the attention of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (MESCS) of Armenia since day one, as stated by Araksia Svajyan, Deputy Head of the MESCS, during the conference "Strengthening Support for Armenian Children During and After Emergencies," ArmInfo reported.
According to the Deputy Minister, one of the Ministry's key objectives is to ensure accessible and high- quality education for every child. She noted that during emergency situations, the risks of enrolling children in educational institutions and providing them with a quality education become especially pressing. Touching upon the situation following the forced displacement of the Artsakh population, she emphasized that the Ministry's primary goal was to ensure continuity of education and prevent the risk of abandoning compulsory education.
As the Deputy Minister explained, the issue arose due to the families' lack of permanent residence and their frequent changes of residence. The Deputy Minister also mentioned that the government had previously decided to continue the support program for students from Artsakh. According to the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, this year, tuition fees for all first-year students, as well as those receiving primary and secondary vocational education, will be reimbursed from the state budget," Svajyan noted.
