Armenian opposition MP calls  statements by Archbishops Michael and  Bagrat in support of  Catholicos important in neutralizing attacks on   Armenian Apostolic Church

ArmInfo.  The statements and principled stance of Archbishop Michael Ajapahyan, head of the Shirak Diocese, and Bagrat Galstanyan, leader of the "Sacred  Struggle" movement, are important in terms of neutralizing the  current authorities' attacks on the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.   Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the Armenian Parliament from the  opposition "With Honor" faction, wrote on his Facebook page. 

The opposition deputy said that he and fellow faction member Martun  Galstanyan visited the archbishops in the Yerevan Kentron  penitentiary. "Their current status as prisoners or convicts is also  directly linked to the campaign being waged against the Armenian  Apostolic Church (AAC) both internally and externally.  Freedom for  the clergy and all political prisoners," Abrahamyan wrote.
