ArmInfo. Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan will not run in the 2026 elections on the list of the ruling Civil Contract party.
"There are various reasons," he said in a conversation with journalists on December 2.
Arshakyan recalled that he is an engineer by profession and previously worked in the technology sector. However, being an "extremely responsible" person and seeing that "elections in Armenia are periodically falsified," he decided to enter politics, he added. Specifically, since 2015, he has been a founding member of the Civil Contract party and was elected to the Board of the Civil Duma party.
"Currently, I see that we are at a point of no return, in the sense that democracy has been established in Armenia, and the people are defending it through their decisions and votes." "Our political team is represented by a strong list, and I believe I can be extremely helpful in developing business in Armenia, as well as in the development of the technological and military-industrial complexes. I see myself as a great asset to the state and society in these areas," he noted.
At the same time, Arshakyan emphasized that he has no plans to leave the ruling Civil Contract party.
As a reminder, before being elected to the National Assembly in 2021 on the national electoral list of the Civil Contract party, Arshakyan served as Minister of High-Tech Industry from 2019 to 2021.
