Golden Apricot present Parajanov`s films at various international  film festivals

ArmInfo.The Yerevan International Film Festival "Golden Apricot" has presented Sergei  Parajanov's films at various international film festivals around the  world.

"As part of the events dedicated to Sergei Parajanov's 100th  anniversary, promoting the films of this world cinema legend beyond  Armenia is of particular importance. These screenings create a  platform for disseminating his invaluable legacy and introducing  younger generations in different countries to his films," the Golden  Apricot Film Festival said in a statement.

Specifically, Sergei Parajanov's photo exhibition "Ashik Kerib. The  Lost Behind the Scenes" is being held in Shiraz, Iran, as part of the  Fajr International Film Festival. This is one of the events organized  within the framework of the memorandum signed between the Republic of  Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which once again  strengthens cooperation between the Golden Apricot International Film  Festival and the Fajr International Film Festival.

In addition, the Iranian Cinema Museum hosted three days of  screenings and discussions of Sergei Parajanov's films "The Color of  Pomegranates," "The Legend of Suram Fortress," and "Ashik Kerib." The  discussions included film critic Robert Safaryan, Golden Apricot Film  Festival Director Karen Avetisyan, and film director Anaid Abad.

Another retrospective of Parajanov's films was held at the Mar del  Plata International Film Festival (Argentina). The idea of holding  the screening was particularly symbolic. In 1965, Sergei Parajanov's  film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" was awarded the Special Jury  Prize at the same festival. Unfortunately, Parajanov was unable to  attend the festival in person, but almost sixty years later, thanks  to the efforts of the Golden Apricot and the Mar del Plata Festival,  his films returned to these historic screens.  The 30th Belgrade  Arthouse Film Festival also included events dedicated to Sergei  Parajanov's 100th birthday.

In particular, the grand opening of the photo exhibition "Ashik  Kerib. The Lost Behind the Scenes" took place, followed by a  screening of Sergei Parajanov's film "Shadows of Forgotten  Ancestors." "The screenings organized at venues in these three  countries not only paid tribute to Sergei Parajanov's creative legacy  and his centenary, but also marked an important step toward  international recognition of Armenian cinema and strengthening its  cultural presence. The initiative demonstrated that Parajanov's art  continues to inspire, unite, and create a new dialogue between  cultures. Sergei Parajanov's name is one of Armenia's strongest  cultural brands, and the continued presentation of his legacy at  international venues is crucial to the country's cultural diplomacy,"  the source stated.
