ArmInfo. At the initiative of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Armenian Cause European Office, the biennial conference of European Armenian Cause Committees was held in Almelo on November 29-30.
According to the ARF press service, more than two dozen participants, representing the most active and politically engaged European Armenian Cause Committees, reassessed their activities over the past period and reaffirmed the collective responsibility to provide adequate international support to the Republic of Armenia in overcoming current challenges. The conference agenda included the ongoing efforts to free Armenian hostages held in Baku, the protection of ethnically cleansed Armenians of Artsakh, the inalienable right of Artsakh Armenians to collectively return to their homeland, and the protection of Artsakh's Armenian cultural heritage. The need to expand youth participation in the life of communities where Hay Dat is active was emphasized. The regression of democratic processes in Armenia, which significantly weakens the effectiveness of the current work of the ARF Armenian Cause European Office in terms of ensuring international support for Armenia, was discussed and condemned.
On this occasion, Hakob Ter-Khachaturyan, Chairman of the ARF Armenian Cause International Committee, noted: "Europe has a very important and unique place in the Armenian Cause network. It is very important to further strengthen the already active work of the central office in Brussels and the regional committees in different countries at any cost and ensure that they receive the support and care of our pan-Armenian network. We all bear the responsibility for implementing the decisions adopted at this conference in implementing initiatives aimed at strengthening the statehood of Armenia, protecting the rights of Artsakh, recognizing the Armenian Genocide and promoting the demands arising from it, protecting the rights of Armenians living in the Diaspora, as well as promoting the unity and political involvement of Armenian youth."
Special attention was paid to improving work with foreign-language media, and options were discussed to fill the information gap that exists between the realities and challenges facing the Armenian people, the Armenian Church, and the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, and European structures.
At the end of the conference, the President of the ARF Armenian Cause Europe Office, Gaspar Karapetyan, thanked the participants for their tireless work and noted: "The Armenian nation is going through one of the most dangerous periods in its history, when fundamental institutions are under constant threat. However, this gathering of ours and the sense of collective responsibility it represents once again underlines and reaffirms our unwavering commitment to confronting and overcoming challenges. Through the actions of the ARF Armenian Cause Europe Office and individual country committees, important steps have been taken to promote the right of return of the Artsakh Armenians and to release the Armenian captives held hostage in Baku."
