


ArmInfo. On November 28, a ceremony was held to unveil a memorial bust of the outstanding Soviet military leader, Admiral of the USSR Fleet Ivan Stepanovich Isakov, in Patriot Park in Kronstadt.
According to the Russian Embassy in Armenia, the event was attended by Russian and Armenian parliamentarians, representatives from the General Staff of the Russian Navy, and the city administration. In his speech, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Yuri Vorobyov noted: "It is a great honor for me to take part in the unveiling of a monument to Ivan Stepanovich Isakov in Kronstadt. His story is well known to us. He was a distinguished military leader, a man who aspired to become a naval commander, and he became one."
In turn, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan emphasized: "His name has forever entered the history of the navy and become part of national memory as a symbol of fortitude, inspiring generations of sailors."
During the Great Patriotic War, Admiral Isakov participated in planning military operations to defend the Baltics, Leningrad, Crimea, and the Caucasus. He was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and received six Orders of Lenin, three Orders of the Red Banner, as well as numerous medals and foreign orders.
