


ArmInfo.Armenia, represented by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (MOESCS), is revising the procedure for granting deferments for conscription to students enrolled in universities ranked in the top 50 of the Shanghai Ranking. Draft law: Changes to the admission procedure for students at universities listed in the Shanghai Ranking.
A draft law amending the Law "On Military Service and the Status of Servicemen" was approved during a meeting of the RA Cabinet of Ministers on November 27. As noted in the explanatory note to the document, citizens who have received a conscription deferment for studying at a university ranked in the top fifty of the Shanghai Ranking will now have the opportunity to receive a deferment of at least three years after graduation to work in a government specified specialty in Armenia, after which they will be exempt from military service.
It is noted that this amendment will facilitate the recruitment of graduates from prestigious foreign universities, highly qualified specialists whose professional activities will contribute to the development of key sectors in the country.
