
ArmInfo. The opening ceremony of the "Cultural Crossroads" international conference was held at the Matenadaran, the Mashtots Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts. The conference was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the UNESCO Convention on the Promotion and Protection of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Ministers Daniel Danielyan and Artur Martirosyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mnatsakan Safaryan, delegations from more than ten countries, and representatives of UNESCO and various international organizations attended the opening ceremony.
Zhanna Andreasyan greeted the conference participants and emphasized in her speech that it was a great honor for Armenia to host this important international event. In the context of Armenia's cooperation with UNESCO, the Minister noted that the Republic has been elected Vice-Chair of the Bureau for the Implementation of the Convention on the Promotion and Protection of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions and a member of the Convention Committee for 2025-2029.
UNESCO Assistant Director-General Ernesto Ottone also welcomed the participants with a video message. He praised Armenia's commitment as Vice-Chair of the Bureau for the Implementation of the Convention on the Promotion and Protection of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions and as a member of the Convention Committee for 2025-2029.
Following the opening ceremony, a plenary session titled "The 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions: 20 Years of Achievements and Prospects" was held, moderated by Deputy Minister Artur Martirosyan.
