ArmInfo. The CSTO called for the speedy signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"We note with satisfaction the active interstate dialogue between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. We support a comprehensive settlement and the speedy conclusion of an unconditional peace treaty between the parties," the declaration adopted by the CSTO Collective Security Council following its meeting in Bishkek on November 27, reads.
The declaration states that, amidst the transformation of the international relations system, collective efforts at regional and global levels to prevent and resolve crises and conflicts by overcoming fundamental interstate security contradictions are becoming an important factor in maintaining security. "The escalation of regional conflicts and the emergence of new security threats, particularly near the borders of CSTO member states, as well as attempts by extra-regional players to influence processes within the CSTO space, necessitate coordinated efforts to ensure stability and peace," the declaration continues.
It notes that in light of current geopolitical realities it is crucial to develop a sustainable security architecture in the Eurasian space based on the principle of equality and indivisibility of security.
"We also express concern over the escalating threats and strategic risks associated with the advancement of the military-strategic infrastructure of individual states and countries that are part of other military alliances and coalitions to the borders of CSTO member states. We emphasize the unacceptability of the deployment of weapons systems within the CSTO's area of responsibility that pose threats to collective security," the text continues.
The CSTO also expressed its willingness to enhance cooperation with other international organizations, primarily the CIS and the SCO, which share the common goal of ensuring stability and security in Eurasia. "An important step in strengthening such cooperation will be the consistent implementation of the Roadmap for the Development of Cooperation between the CSTO, CIS, and SCO for the period 2026-2028, signed by the Secretaries General in Beijing on September 3, 2025," the declaration states.
