


ArmInfo.On November 26, Hovhannes Martirosyan, Head of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection body, participated in a roundtable discussion titled "Improving Legal Framework for Developing New Approach to Afforestation in Armenia," organized by the Forest Alliance of Armenia.
According to the Inspectorate's press service, in his speech, Martirosyan touched on the main issues in forest restoration and protection in Armenia, including fires that have broken out simultaneously in several regions, posing a threat to forests and residents. Noting the need for relevant agencies to work around the clock to quickly contain fires, he emphasized the importance of changes to fire warning and management systems. Martirosyan presented the consequences and impacts of burning vegetation cover and fallen leaf litter, as well as statistical data on administrative penalties applied by the Inspectorate.
Presentations were also given by Environment Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Armenia Andrea Baumann, and representatives from foundations and public organizations.
The goal of the event was to bring together the experiences and ideas of government agencies, international organizations, and representatives of the public and private sectors to discuss possible ways to enhance reforestation in Armenia.
