ArmInfo. Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan is optimistic about the release of all Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan.
"We had up to 200 prisoners. Today, there are 23 confirmed prisoners of war. We'll wait, and I'm confident that thanks to these steps, the number of these prisoners will eventually be reduced to zero, and everyone will be back. The then leaders of Karabakh will also return, along with all those who were captured and are currently in prison there. Our government has done and will do everything to ensure everyone returns to the Republic of Armenia without discrimination," Simonyan said in a conversation with journalists in parliament on November 26.
According to the NA Speaker, his optimism is based on previous experience and ongoing work. "I'm saying that after the war, we had up to 200 confirmed prisoners; today, we have 23. Ten times less. This is a base I can rely on. And I know the efforts the government, myself, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs are making," the NA Speaker emphasized.
