ArmInfo. Due to the absence of an opposition, the current political agenda in Armenia is dictated by the government, as stated by Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan to reporters on November 26.
"I say there is no opposition in Armenia," he stated, disagreeing with the parliamentary opposition's assertion that people are arrested in Armenia only for expressing dissent. According to the NA Speaker, today's opposition has little to offer; they are only busy countering the current government.
"They don't offer an agenda; they have nothing to say to the people. We are constantly offering something to the people of Armenia-whether good, bad, or critiqued. The opposition has been repeating 'Turk, traitor, surrendering lands' for the past five years. What else do they have to say? What's their agenda? 'A dignified peace' -something akin to toasts," Alen Simonyan remarked ironically.
