The Russian Embassy in Armenia has expressed gratitude to its Armenian partners for co-sponsoring the traditionally Russian-sponsored draft resolution "Combating the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism, and other practices that contribute to fueling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance."
The diplomatic mission's statement recalled that the resolution was adopted at the Third Committee meeting of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on November 14. The document was co-sponsored by forty-four states from all regions of the world , and 114 countries, including Armenia, voted in favor. "Our Armenian friends' support for this document is especially valuable in light of the 80th anniversary of the shared victory over German Nazism in the Great Patriotic War, serving as another confirmation of the grateful memory of the heroic sons and daughters of the Armenian people who gave their lives to save the Motherland and all of humanity from the 'brown plague,'" the Russian Embassy's statement reads.
