ArmInfo. A ban on whitefish fishing will be introduced in Lake Sevan starting November 20, according to a statement from the RA Ministry of Environment.
According to the source, the ban will be in effect until February 1, 2026. This decision is a strategic step toward preserving Sevan's biodiversity. It is primarily aimed at supporting the natural reproduction of whitefish, which will ensure the sustainable and effective restoration of the lake's fish stocks.
Violating hunting regulations, as well as illegal hunting, carries strict administrative and criminal penalties.
"After November 20, legal action will be taken against vessels and fishing gear found in Lake Sevan. We urge you to ensure their timely removal," the statement reads.
