ArmInfo. On November 18, during parliamentary hearings on the investigation of the March 1 Case, Garik Sargsyan, head of the Vedi community in the Ararat region and member of the ruling party, asked Artur Nahapetyan, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee, whether there were snipers during the events of March 1, and if so, who they were and of what nationality.
Artur Nahapetyan noted that the preliminary investigation has provided such information. "We also have information about the participation of individuals without any identifiable insignia but wearing appropriate uniforms involved in the actions. However, due to the ongoing preliminary investigation, I cannot provide specific details in response to your question.
I can only assure you that we are conducting a comprehensive investigation into this matter and taking measures to identify all individuals involved," the Committee Chairman stated.
In reply, Sargsyan noted that, according to his information, the "foreign snipers" who took part in the events of March 1, 2008, were no longer alive.
"We have heard, we know, we are aware that there were foreigners, and they are no longer alive; they were killed many years ago," he noted. Artur Nahapetyan, in turn, pointed out that the preliminary investigation does not possess such information.
