ArmInfo. On November 17, a hearing will take place chaired by Anti-Corruption Court Judge Sargis Dadoyan to consider extension of the arrest of Tashir Group President Samvel Karapetyan. Lawyer Aram Vardevanyan shared this information live on his Facebook page.
According to him, the hearing is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM. The lawyer also reported an unprecedented case related to the request to extend the businessman's arrest. He highlighted the Court of Appeals' November 14 decision, which denied Karapetyan's release and rejected the prosecution's motion to recognize the commission of an economic crime. The lawyer noted that the defense received notice of the Court of Appeals' decision on November 14, after the decision had already been rendered. Meanwhile, the prosecution received the decision on the same day, allowing them time to use the materials to request the Anti-Corruption Court to extend Karapetyan's pretrial detention.
Vardevanyan noted that Karapetyan's defense team will issue a statement regarding the current situation soon. He reiterated that the businessman's trial is politically motivated.
