ArmInfo. The government of the Republic of Armenia has fulfilled the promise made in 2021 to open an era of peaceful development for the country and the region. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this statement during the 2026 state budget draft law debates in the National Assembly.
Responding to criticism that the government has failed to implement its program, Pashinyan stated: "There has never been, is not, or will ever be a cabinet of ministers in the world that has fulfilled its program 100%. Such a thing simply doesn't exist; it's nonsense. The program sets out the problems, tasks, and frameworks that the government must address.
So what can be said about our program? The government's program was adopted by the National Assembly on August 26, 2021, with 70 votes in favor. The fifth point of the program states: "The most important mission undertaken by the government before the people after the snap elections is to open an era of peaceful development for Armenia and the region." In other words, we have fulfilled our most important mission.
Meanwhile, the parliamentary opposition claims that this is not peace." However, Pashinyan continued, Armenia lacks the knowledge or experience to know what peace truly means. "Peace is when, for a year and eight months, not a single soldier has died in firefights on Armenia's borders. Peace is when the residents of border settlements have not heard shots for three months. Peace is when, over the past 30 years, a train has entered Armenia through Azerbaijan, delivering wheat. Some of this wheat can be used for bread, and the rest can be given to chickens. Will our children not eat the same chicken or eggs?" Pashinyan said. Kirants is also an example of peace and the "Real Armenia," where 55 houses are currently being built," he added.
