


ArmInfo. A meeting with a Council of Europe delegation led by Claus Neukirch, Director of the Directorate for Programme Coordination of the Council of Europe Secretariat, was held at the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia.
The guests were received by Kristine Ghalechyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia. During the meeting, she emphasized the importance of close cooperation with the Council of Europe in fostering a culture of democratic governance and strengthening community autonomy and responsibility.
According to the ministry's press service, the parties discussed the Armenia-Council of Europe Action Plan for 2023-2026 and reviewed the "Support for Communities Hosting Refugees" program, which is being implemented within its framework. In cooperation with the Vedi Municipality, the program promotes the development of forcibly displaced women and their vocational training in new professions. Kristine Galechyan noted that Armenia's cooperation with the Council of Europe and other international organizations is aimed at protecting human rights, developing local self-governance, ensuring socioeconomic sustainability, and balanced territorial development.
As of October 2023, over 46,000 Artsakh women were forcibly displaced to Armenia as a result of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh by the Azerbaijani regime.
