On November 10, the "Armenia-EU Educational Dialogue" meeting was held at the TUMO Center as part of the Platform for Political Dialogue between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, the European Union in Armenia, and UNICEF on education reforms in Armenia. According to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, the event was attended by Zhanna Andreasyan, Head of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, and Christine Weigand, UNICEF Representative in Armenia.
The meeting discussed reforms in the education system, current challenges and development opportunities, as well as key areas of Armenia-EU collaboration in education. The RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, Zhanna Andreasyan, welcomed the participants and noted that meetings in this format have become an important platform for dialogue, providing an opportunity to gather at least twice a year to discuss and evaluate the progress and outcomes of bilateral cooperation in education.
"It is safe to say that Armenia-EU cooperation in education is exemplary. Numerous reforms implemented in recent years have already yielded tangible results," the Minister noted. She also thanked UNICEF for its support and coordination throughout the implementation of the education strategy.
The Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, emphasized that the development of education and human capital is a key priority for cooperation with Armenia. "Investing in skills development, capacity building, and strengthening civic education is crucial for the country's stability. Education is also an important tool for strengthening democracy," the Ambassador noted, adding that the dissemination of democratic values and the strengthening of institutional stability are among the pillars of EU-Armenia cooperation. Vassilis Maragos also touched on the events of Media Literacy Week, stating that projects to develop media literacy and information skills are being implemented in various regions of the country.
"Assessing and summarizing the progress of educational reforms is an important stage of our cooperation. Armenia-EU relations are developing dynamically on a weekly basis," the Ambassador noted.
UNICEF Representative in Armenia, Christine Weigand, also welcomed the participants, emphasizing that this meeting is part of a series of high-level political dialogues that provide an opportunity to discuss the progress of educational reforms and sectoral initiatives.
