During her working visit to the Italian Republic on November 7, 2025, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan met with Giuseppe Mazzi, Chairman of the Military Court of Appeals of the Italian Republic and Marco De Paolis, Chief Military Prosecutor of the Court of Appeals. The meeting was also attended by Vladimir Karapetyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Italian Republic, Grigor Elizbaryan, Deputy Prosecutor General and Military Prosecutor of the Republic of Armenia, and Yeghiazar Avagyan, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the supervisory authority's press service, Anna Vardapetyan thanked the President of the Military Court of Appeals for the warm welcome and emphasized that the purpose of the Armenian delegation's visit is to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening collaboration between the Military Prosecutor's Office of Armenia and the Military Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Cassation of Italy.
Anna Vardapetyan presented the powers of the Armenian Military Prosecutor's Office to her Italian colleagues. She stated that the Military Prosecutor's Office is responsible for initiating criminal prosecutions for crimes committed in the armed forces and other troops, ensuring the legality of pre-trial criminal proceedings, representing the prosecution in court, appealing court decisions and rulings, and monitoring the legality of punishments and other coercive measures. "In exceptional cases and as prescribed by law, the Military Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia also files lawsuits in court to protect state interests," the Prosecutor General emphasized. The structure and activities of the Military Prosecutor's Office were also addressed during the meeting. The parties also discussed several matters of mutual interest.
