
ArmInfo. RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan participated in the panel discussion "How Can Culture and Cultural Policy Strengthen Democracy?" in Strasbourg as part of the Council of Europe World Forum for Democracy.
According to the MESCS press service, the Minister presented Armenia's experience in promoting democratic values, public engagement, and preserving cultural diversity, emphasizing the key role of education in developing democracy through culture.
She reported that large-scale educational reforms are currently being implemented in Armenia. The Minister announced the introduction of a new state standard for general education, based on the ideological transformation of the curriculum and the transition from knowledge-based learning to competency-based learning.
According to Zhanna Andreasyan, gender sensitivity is also a fundamental principle, and reforms have been implemented in partnership with and with the support of the Council of Europe. Armenia has already achieved certain results in this area. Around a third of the ministers in the Government of the Republic of Armenia are women-experienced, proactive, and successful. Women's representation in the National Assembly also exceeds 36 percent, which also indicates progress.
Responding to questions from the discussion participants, Zhanna Andreasyan touched on youth policy in the Republic of Armenia, s based on creating favorable conditions and an environment for young people to develop and realize their potential. The goal of state policy in the youth sector is to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge. To this end, youth centers are being established in the regions of the country through public-private partnerships.
