ArmInfo. There's nothing new about nominating candidates for representation on the electoral list of Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told reporters on November 6.
According to him, similar steps have been taken before; for example, during the 2017 elections, the party was guided by the same principle.
However, the prime minister continued, this rule, enshrined in the party charter, applies to regular elections. In the case of snap elections, as was the case in 2021, different approaches were used given the limited time available. Pashinyan recalled that all nominees will be required to pay between 500,000 drams (for party members) and 1.5 million drams (for individual citizens who are not party members), which is planned to be used for the campaign for the 2026 parliamentary elections. At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that fundraising would be organized to more effectively prepare for the upcoming elections and conduct election campaigning. Moreover, this will not only be done at the national level; candidates nominated for the election, who essentially act as leaders, will also be able to organize similar fundraising efforts. They will also be expected to demonstrate initiative within their own communities (family, community, etc.). The difference in payments, as the Prime Minister noted, is due to the fact that party members pay membership dues.
As a reminder, the next parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on June 7, 2026. The ruling party has already begun selecting candidates, with the first to submit an application for inclusion on the "State Duma" list being the Chairman of the Party Board, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
