ArmInfo. Armenia has a historic opportunity to institutionalize the established peace, making it long-lasting and irreversible. Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan told reporters on November 5, responding to concerns about recent statements by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev regarding Baku's intention to resettle approximately 300,000 Azerbaijanis to Armenia.
Commenting on this possibility, former RA Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan expressed the opinion that if the current government is reproduced in 2026, such an opportunity will become a reality. In this regard, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly stated that former Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan is a classic manipulator. The reality, however, is entirely different. In 2026, Armenian citizens will have a choice. They will have to choose between peace that will last for decades, where residents of the republic will not worry about the lives of their loved ones, and where these decades will be marked by active economic development, or various kinds of manipulators. If the latter come to power, the idea of peace will practically collapse. Thus, peace will be jeopardized. The ongoing border delimitation process, as well as the Washington agreements, guarantee peace. Another factor, according to the Deputy Speaker, is Baku's lifting of restrictions on the supply of goods to Armenia via Azerbaijan.
"All of this has been accomplished under the current government, and thus, stone by stone, we must build peace. It is crucial that next year the Armenian people declare their desire to follow this path," the Deputy Speaker said. He pointed out the delivery of Kazakh grain through Azerbaijan, calling it a very important and positive sign. Overall, Rubinyan noted, a completely different situation has emerged in the region since August 8. He urged not to be guided by the events of 2022, but by the events of 2025. The Deputy Speaker emphasized that a significant part of the Armenian opposition's narrative is being formed in Azerbaijan. If Azerbaijani officials remain silent for a week, the Armenian opposition will have no opportunity to comment or prove anything. "And not only in Azerbaijan. Let's not be guided by the 'death of Kikos,' but by what has been written and signed with Azerbaijan," the Deputy Speaker concluded.
