ArmInfo. Modern challenges, security threats, regional conflicts, climate change, supply chain disruptions, and food security issues are changing the logic of global politics and economics. Arayik Harutyunyan, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, made this statement during the conference "Building Peace and Multilateral Cooperation."
According to him, the key topic of today's discussion is fully consistent with the political course of the Government of the Republic of Armenia to build a peaceful, stable, secure, and economically interconnected region, where all states are guided by mutual respect and equality. " We live in a complex and turbulent world. Modern challenges, security threats, regional conflicts, climate change, disruptions in supply chains and food security issues are changing the logic of global politics and economics. In such conditions, establishing peace should be the primary goal and responsibility of all of us. It is with this logic that the Government of Armenia acts as an advocate of peace and constructive dialogue, based on the principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, territorial integrity, inviolability of borders and the exclusion of the use of force. We believe that peace has no alternative and is not only a goal, but also a prerequisite for sustainable development," Harutyunyan stated.
He added that guided by this conviction, Armenia consistently advances the process of normalizing Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. The initialing of the Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington on August 8 was a turning point and created real foundations for opening a new page of sustainable peace and mutual trust. "Today I can happily state that the peace process is not merely an idea, but is already achieving practical results. The fact that representatives of civil society and the media from Azerbaijan and Turkey are here today within this platform speaks for itself. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone will benefit: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Iran and the entire region. We strive for communication channels to become a space for cooperation, not competition. We are confident that the lifting of the blockade of the region, the establishment of peace and the full realization of the historical opportunity between the sides will ensure not only stability and peace in the region, but also promote ties between peoples and have a positive impact on economic growth and the investment climate of the countries. We are confident that peace and open communication can turn the South Caucasus into a global bridge, uniting markets, cultures and peoples," Harutyunyan concluded.
