On November 4, the Ministry of Internal Affairs held a regular meeting of the Interagency Commission for the prevention of trafficking and illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the Republic of Armenia. The meeting was chaired by Vardan Vardanyan, the Commission Chairman and Deputy Chief of Police at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Commission included the heads of relevant departments of the Police, the National Security Service, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministries of Defense, Health, Justice, the Investigative Committee, and the State Revenue Committee. Reflecting on the work being carried out in the fight against drug trafficking, commission chairman Vardan Vardanyan emphasized the importance of cooperation between relevant agencies, with the goal of achieving positive results in combating the common problem. The Commission members presented the results of the work carried out this year in the fight against drug trafficking highlighting the effective measures taken to identify, expose, and prevent drug trafficking. The need to increase the effectiveness of the fight against drug trafficking and to take joint measures in this area was emphasized.
The meeting also addressed issues related to Armenia's chairmanship of the 69th session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs and the current ongoing efforts. Specific proposals for addressing the identified issues were presented.
Vardan Vardanyan thanked the members of the Interagency Commission for the productive discussion and emphasized the importance of daily, consistent work in combating drug trafficking.
