ArmInfo. The representatives of Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party, voted for an anti-Georgian resolution within Euronest, referring to the Georgian government as "self-proclaimed." The opposition Hayastan parliamentary faction members shared this information on Facebook.
In particular, Hayastan faction MP Artur Khachatryan, once again touching on the work of the 12th Euronest session held in Yerevan last week, recalled that four MPs from the Civil Contract party opposed a proposal to amend the political committee's report. The report was authored by Khachatryan, Anna Grigoryan, Elinar Vardanyan, Hayk Mamijanyan, and MPs from the Socialist and Democratic faction Pierfrancesco Maran and Marcos Ross Sempere. The document called for the immediately release of Armenian prisoners and other detainees held in Baku and the collective safe return of forcibly displaced Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh to their homeland under international security guarantees.
"But that's not all. Civil Contract deputies voted for a political committee report that contained extremely critical statements not only against Russia but also against Georgia. Criticism of Russia is nothing new for this government, and I would be very surprised if the Civil Contract members chose a different voting tactic this time.
However, voting for the anti-Georgian resolution was something new. Civil Contract members voted for a resolution rejecting the self-proclaimed Georgian Dream party. It criticizes the ruling Georgian party for its anti-democratic policies, violence, and restrictions on civil liberties, and assesses the law on registering foreign agents as draconian," the opposition parliamentarian wrote. "While Azerbaijan and Turkey are tightening the noose around Armenia's neck, they are voting for a resolution against Georgia. If only the dushman ( enemy) weren't from within," Artur Khachatryan concluded.
