ArmInfo. The Mother Armenia faction will appeal to the Central Election Commission of Armenia to invalidate the registration of the ruling Civil Contract party's electoral list for the Vagharshapat Community Council elections scheduled for November 16.
As noted in a statement received by ArmInfo, the political party is initiating the process due to numerous violations of Armenia's Electoral Code that have affected the normal course of the elections and are having a significant impact on their results. "This constitutes grounds for the Electoral Commission to invalidate the ruling party's registration of the electoral list in accordance with Part 8 of Article 19 of Armenia's Electoral Code," the statement reads.
In connection with the above, the opposition faction cited several examples of violations committed by Civil Contract. In particular, the faction noted that the ruling party placed campaign posters in locations prohibited by Armenia's Electoral Code. Furthermore, according to the source, individuals holding municipal positions without the appropriate permits participated in the campaign, using logistical, financial, and informational resources of state or municipal property for the campaign. "Furthermore, this participation occurred without them being on vacation," the faction added.
Furthermore, Mother Armenia noted that the ruling party utilized administrative resources, including involving local government employees in the campaign and issuing a permit to install billboards with candidate posters to a company that placed them in the days leading up to the start of the campaign. Moreover, the faction noted, only posters of the Civil Contract Party candidate were placed on the billboards in the Vagharshapat community. "After the elections were scheduled for the Dogs settlement in the Vagharshapat community, the day before the start of the election campaign, October 21, 2025, candidate No. 1 on the Civil Contract party list, along with other candidates and public officials, violated the ban on charitable donations under Article 221 of the RA Criminal Code, for which a criminal case was initiated by the Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee," Mother Armenia continued.
Finally, as noted in the statement, the factions failed to provide the hall of the Komitas Palace of Culture public organization, which is under the jurisdiction of the Vagharshapat municipality, for the event, while the same hall was provided to Civil Contract. "In connection with the above, the Mother Armenia National Democratic Party will submit a corresponding application to District Electoral Commission No. 14 with the corresponding demand," the political party concluded.
As a reminder, elections to the Council of Elders of the enlarged Vagharshapat community will be held on November 16, 2025. According to the Central Election Commission of Armenia, seven political forces will participate in the elections.
