

ArmInfo. Armenia did not participate in the CIS Council of Defense Ministers meeting in Almaty on October 31.
According to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee, the meeting was attended by Defense Ministers Zakir Hasanov of Azerbaijan, Viktor Khrenin of Belarus, Dairen Kosanov of Kazakhstan, Ruslan Mukambetov of Kyrgyzstan, Emomali Sobirzoda of Tajikistan, Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov of Uzbekistan, and Yuri Dashkin, Secretary of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member states. The meeting summarized the implementation of the military cooperation concept over the past five years and outlined promising plans for further cooperation. A range of issues aimed at developing integrated military systems were discussed, including communications and integrated air defense.
. According to the source, the participants paid particular attention to the development of joint military systems. They examined ways to further develop the unified air defense system, summarized the experience of cooperation within the Joint Control System, and discussed measures to improve the Joint Communications System.
Following the meeting, the Defense Ministers Council signed decisions aimed at enhancing military cooperation and strengthening the armed forces of the CIS member states.
ArmInfo had previously contacted the Ministry of Defense to clarify whether Armenia would participate at any level in the meeting of the CIS heads of defense, but received no response.
