ArmInfo. Masis Mayor David Hambardzumyan, who is currently in Nubarashen Prison, has announced the termination of his powers as a member of the Council of Elders, as stated in a message distributed by the press service of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
In this regard, the mayor mentioned that his imprisonment is the result of blatant political persecution. He justified his decision by citing the need to protect the position of the community head from the authorities' false legal and administrative intrigues. However, he emphasized that the brutal pressure and blatant lawlessness of the current regime are unable to break them or nullify their desire for a stronger and more dignified homeland. "I cannot allow my imprisonment to weaken you and allow the ruling regime to seize power in the community. I have asked for my powers to be terminated, fully aware of my responsibility to you, while staying true to the promises I made during the election period. I will continue my activities as long as possible. The political team to which you entrusted the governance of the community will continue to act within the framework of our election promises, implementing numerous programs aimed at improving your lives. I am steeping down from the Council of Elders, but I am not leaving Masis," Hambardzumyan stated.
