ArmInfo. The court has changed the pretrial detention for Sacred Struggle supporter Aghvan Arshakyan from house arrest to administrative supervision, without the use of an electronic device and with a travel restriction. Lawyer Varazdat Harutyunyan announced this on his Facebook page.
The lawyer recalled that Arshakyan has serious health issues and that the defense had petitioned for a change in pretrial detention, which the court granted. "Now Aghvan Arshakyan will have the opportunity to fully focus on restoring his health while under proper medical supervision," the lawyer noted.
Harutyunyan also noted that the prosecution did not challenge the defense's motion. The lawyer noted that this approach deserves a positive assessment. As a reminder, Arshakyan and other supporters of the movement are accused of plotting terrorist attacks and mass riots. He, along with other supporters of the "Sacred Struggle," as well as the movement's leader, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, were arrested in late June. Two years ago, the young man was diagnosed with a serious illness. After a complex surgery and chemotherapy, Aghvan was required to undergo checkups every three months and remain under medical supervision. His lawyer, Varazdat Harutyunyan, later reported that following his arrest, Aghvan Arshakyan developed functional impairments: he was unable to move either his arm or leg, a consequence of his cancer.
