ArmInfo. Peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan has already been established; it is a reality. This was stated by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the "Leadership at a Crossroads" panel discussion at the 8th Paris Peace Forum.
According to the RA government press service, in his speech, Nikol Pashinyan praised the personal efforts and contributions of US President Donald Trump. "We have peace, and that's a reality. This is a historic change not only in our bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, but for our region as a whole. Because, I believe, for the first time, we have a real opportunity to reach a stage of economic cooperation in the South Caucasus and have not only a peaceful but also a prosperous region. This is particularly true given the fact that in the declaration adopted in Washington, we agreed to open regional ties based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and nationality. There is also another principle: the inviolability of internationally recognized borders," the head of state emphasized.
The Prime Minister also touched on the TRIPP project, emphasizing its importance for both Armenia and Azerbaijan. "Regional connectivity means that we-I mean both Armenia and Azerbaijan-will be able to use each other's territory for domestic, bilateral, and international communications, which means a new international transit route will open through our territories. Considering that the world is currently experiencing a supply chain crisis, this could truly be a turning point for both international trade and our region," Nikol Pashinyan emphasized. He added that communication routes from the Persian and Oman Gulfs to the Black Sea will be opened, new connections will be established between the Caspian and Mediterranean Seas, and new opportunities will emerge for Armenia.
Speaking about the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan noted that they are a significant political event, crucial both for the peace process and for future prosperity and stability. "And I am confident that the people of the Republic of Armenia will support what we have achieved to date. I have no doubt that the citizens of Armenia will support the peace agenda and the peace process," the Prime Minister noted.
The Prime Minister also touched on the process of normalizing relations with Turkey, expressing hope that positive progress will also be made in this area in the near future. Nikol Pashinyan also spoke about the prospects for developing cooperation between Armenia and the European Union.
