ArmInfo. The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, Mary Lawlor, has responded to the Human Rights Watch (HRW) report on the unlawful detention and criminal prosecution of lawyer and human rights defender Alexander Kochubaev.
"I welcome the release from custody of Armenian lawyer and human rights defender Alexander Kochubaev, but I strongly condemn the criminal charges against him and call on the Armenian authorities to drop them immediately. Mr. Kochubaev was prosecuted for criticizing the unfair prosecution of clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Church who led peaceful protests in 2024," the UN Special Rapporteur emphasized.
