ArmInfo. During a meeting with a delegation led by Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Armenian Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan highly appreciated the fruitful cooperation and reaffirmed her readiness to strengthen and expand it.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Minister highlighted the ongoing development of the skills of the personnel of the "Territorial Seismic Protection Service" SNCO, and stressed the significance of their participation in Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization training courses and conferences. When speaking about the activities of the Garni seismic station, Sargsyan noted that it is the only internationally licensed station in the region that transmits its data via satellite in real time to the International Data Center, ensuring Armenia too be part of the global system of seismic observations and nuclear test monitoring.
Robert Floyd welcomed the acceptance of the proposal to hold a regional seminar in Armenia in 2026 and noted that it will provide an important platform for representatives of participating countries to discuss the international monitoring system, the services of national data centers, and the exchange of experience.
According to Floyd, Armenia is a reliable partner for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization. He positively assessed the work of the Territorial Seismic Protection Service and emphasized the importance of ensuring Armenia's representation in this system through the National Data Center. In the context of the fight against disinformation, Floyd expressed gratitude to Sargsyan, particularly noting the accuracy of the data provided by the Garni seismic station, which has helped prevent the spread of misinformation about nuclear tests and has strengthened regional peace and stability. The meeting also addressed upcoming programs and initiatives.
