Speaking in the Armenian Parliament during a meeting of the Eastern Partnership Parliamentary Assembly (Euronest) committees on political issues, human rights, democracy, economic integration, and legislative approximation and alignment with EU policies, Jukneviciene noted positive changes in Armenia, which, she said, could contribute to peace between the countries.
Member of the Rada Vladimir Ariev, in turn, welcomed Armenia's decision to begin the process of integration into the European Union.
"This decision by the country will lead to tangible economic and financial advantages in the future," the member of parliament assured. During the meeting, members of parliament discussed necessary amendments to the document outlining the prospects for the Eastern Partnership, as well as issues related to politics, human rights, and democracy.
As previously reported by ArmInfo, the meeting will be held from October 28 to 30. On October 29, the opening of the 12th plenary session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly will take place in the Armenian parliament's session hall. Georgia and Azerbaijan do not participate in the work of the PA.
As a reminder, on January 9, the Armenian government approved a draft law on the start of the EU accession process, proposed by the "Eurakve" civic initiative. The proposal was adopted by the Armenian parliament in March of this year and signed by President Vahagn Khachaturyan in early April.
