ArmInfo.Following its impressive rise in international sports, Armenia will be represented for the first time at the 2025 Pickleball World Cup in Florida, USA, the National Pickleball Association of Armenia (NAPA) told ArmInfo.
The national team's entry into this prestigious tournament, which will bring together over 3,500 athletes from over 90 countries, marks the culmination of a period of rapid development for the sport in the country. This journey to the global arena began with the founding of the National Pickleball Association of Armenia (NAPA) in 2023 by sports enthusiasts Alexander Andranikyan and Mirtad Gazazyan. At the time, pickleball was virtually unknown in the country; there were no dedicated courts or equipment. NAPA's earliest practices were improvised and held in public parks with temporary nets, slowly building a community from scratch.
The Association has ambitious plans to expand pickleball's reach to Armenia's regions, creating local leagues and identifying new talent. NAPA also places a strong emphasis on youth outreach and initiatives to train the next generation of players.
According to the source, NAPA has successfully assembled a national team in a short period of time. The team is ready to test its strength against the world's strongest opponents and plans to compete in two categories: the Open World Cup and the Senior World Cup.
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Played on a compact court similar to a tennis court, it's known for being easy to learn, making it appealing to players of all ages.
