ArmInfo.  Father Sargsyan, who was supposed to celebrate the liturgy at the  Hovhannavank Monastery on Sunday, October 26, was summoned for  questioning by the investigative body at 9:00 AM on the same day, as  reported by lawyer Ara Zohrabyan.

According to him, this situation will allow Stepan Asatryan to  celebrate the liturgy without authorization.  Thus, the investigator  has also joined in the preparation of the crime of obstructing the  performance of the rite.

The lawyer emphasized that the police were suppose to be present at  Hovhannavank at 4:00 PM the day before to prevent the intrusion. The  police officers on site refused to intervene, explaining that they  had not been instructed to do so. Thus, the police themselves are  demonstrating unlawful inaction. The defrocked Stepan Asatryan,  ignoring the demands of the Holy See of Etchmiadzin, continued to  perform his duties.  Numerous plainclothes police officers were  present on the premises.
